Project Experience

Formaldehyde Emissions, Lancaster, PA
Worked with a Professional Engineer in creating a proficient assessment and expert report for improper sizing of a HVAC system for a 20,000 sq. ft. facility that contained over 80% of hardwood plywood in its interior. Researched the amount of formaldehyde emission from the plywood used in the facility by laboratory reports and other sources. Examined the building permits. Created a graphical picture of the high and lows of the plywood emissions. Also, explored the idea of “microwaving” the facility and how “airing” out the facility would reduce the emissions.

Route I-78 Rock Claim, New Jersey
Assisted a team of experts and lawyers in compilation of data for the I-78 weigh station. Compiled information on elevations and borings to determine rock placement and quantity. Created Excel spreadsheets reflecting the differences in existing, boring, and rock elevations that are found within files provided to the company. Worked with AutoCAD on placement of borings onto electronic contour maps.

Residential Construction, New Jersey
Visited the site that alleged improper usage of an I-joist, weep hole placement, and other structural and non-structural concerns. Researched the uses of I joists, including the use for HVAC ducting. Also, researched weep hole standards for placement and the minimum and maximum number to be placed within the masonry of a home. Assisted in home inspections of the fireblocking and material usage in return air plenums and stud cavities.

SSA Mid-Atlantic Operations Center, Philadelphia
Provided engineering consulting assistance to the SSA’s facility management team in support of renovation projects in the facility.  Projects included the development of a multi-room, CCTV training center and renovations to the telecom services center.

Pipe Rebuild, Port Arthur
Assisted in determining the amount of new, used, and reinstalled pipe placed into the new steel pipe rack of a fire stricken chemical plant. Worked with contractors and joint experts on process to build the Navisworks model and the infield process to tackle the rebuild. Examined and compared the heat plum from opposing council’s expert’s drawings to that of the actual photos of the “burn” site.

Personal Injury, Philadelphia
Provided assistance in determining the standards of construction site safety including landing, stairs, and ladder safety. In this case, a temporary platform collapsed on a construction site which left one worker critically hurt.

Assisted in the cost analysis of a retention basin delay. Analyzed materials and labor, escrow account charges, loan, and other relevant documents to support the revision of the basin.

Structural Integrity, New Jersey
Supported engineers in managing soil boring testing for a single family and condo residential community.  Reviewed geotechnical analysis, piling records, topography, site usage before construction, and other documentation that could contribute to determining why the residential structures were shifting.

High School Construction, Pennsylvania
Assisted team in an energy analysis of a recently built high school’s building management system. Revisions to the school’s operating systems and set points optimized energy consumption.
