Engineers’ Club of Philadelphia is pleased to present the George Washington Medal To Former Gov. Ed Rendell June 7, 2013 Please join the Engineers’ Club of Philadelphia (ECP) in recognizing the contributions that former Gov. Ed Rendell has made to the engineering profession throughout his career as an elected official. MDC’s Mitch Swann, PE, is the current EPC President. Mr. Rendell has been a tireless supporter and advocate for increased funding for and improvements to public infrastructure, both while in elected office and since is return to private life. He has continually been in the forefront in his recognition of engineers and the engineering profession to achieve these goals for infrastructure. The Engineers’ Club is pleased to cite his contributions and support through our awarding of the George Washington Medal to Mr. Rendell. Mr. Rendell was first elected to public office in 1977 when he made a successful run to become the District Attorney of Philadelphia County, a position he held from 1978 to 1986. He returned to public service following his election as Mayor of the City of Philadelphia in 1991, serving for two terms from 1992 to 2000. In 2002, he was elected as Governor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, a position he held for two terms from 2003 until 2011.
