Highway Interchange Project

Client Name: NJDOT

MDC Systems® was asked to investigate and analyze a contractor’s claim for the construction of an interstate highway interchange and inspection station. Unique geological conditions were alleged by the contractor to be responsible for a doubling in the value of the completed project. MDC Systems® conducted a detailed Forensic Project Management and geotechnical investigation of the site to determine if the alleged conditions impacted the project. The investigation included in part an analysis of over 10,000 drilling records to determine actual rock profiles so that a comparison could be made to the original design representations. MDC Systems®’s final determination was that only minor variations were encountered considering the design information available at the time of bid. Our client’s interests were properly presented at a multi-day mediation resulting in a settlement on favorable terms to our client.
